Nom Banh Chok

No trip to Siem Reap is complete without a visit to Padak, for a bowl of Nom Banh Chok. Located on the edge of Angkor Archeological Site, Padak is a small village that is home to some of the best street-style Nom Banh Chok in Cambodia. There are several spots along the main road that serves up this quintessential Khmer dish, with each bowl consisting of fermented rice noodles, a fragrant fish broth and an abundance of fresh herbs and foraged greens.

Insider’s Tip! Next time you have Nom Banh Chok make sure you ask for ‘Tik Ambrik’ to dollop onto your Nom Banh Chok. Tik Ambrik, is a peanut and palm sugar sauce that adds texture and flavour to your Nom Banh Chok. It is not as common to find vendors serving Tik Ambrik in the city, but in places like Siem Reap and Battambang, Tik Ambrik and Nom Banh Chok go hand in hand.
