Nataly Lee is an Cambodian–Australian multidisciplinary artist working across photography, painting, installation, and moving image. Born in Battambang during the Cambodian civil war, her family fled the country when she was eleven months old and spent four years in refugee camps along the Thai–Cambodian border before resettling overseas. This early experience of displacement continues to inform her work.
Through field-based research and image-making, Lee explores memory, migration, and cultural inheritance, focusing on how histories of movement and survival are carried through landscapes, materials, and everyday life. Living between cultures and geographies continues to shape her perspective, drawing her practice toward questions of belonging, inheritance, and the ways history persists within place and lived experience.
Her work often develops through long-term engagement with place, combining observation, research, and fieldwork. Spending extended periods in specific environments allows her to work slowly and attentively, observing the subtle ways histories remain embedded within landscapes, people, and daily life.
Nataly is currently based in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
